About PMU
What is PMU?
PMU (Permanent Makeup) is a cosmetic tattooing treatment where specialised pigments are implanted into the deeper layers of your skin to enhance your natural features. Depending on the treatment, PMU can create beautifully defined brows, enhanced lips or a softly defined eyeliner or lash enhancement look.
PMU is designed to fade gradually over time rather than remain permanent forever, with longevity varying between individuals.
Brows
What brow PMU treatments do you offer?
Brow PMU can be tailored to your desired look, from soft and natural to more defined and makeup-enhanced. Your treatment will be selected based on your natural brow shape, hair colour, skin type, lifestyle and the result you're hoping to achieve.
Will my brows look natural?
Yes. Brow PMU can be created with a soft, natural finish or a more defined makeup look. Your brows will be mapped carefully before treatment to create a shape that complements your facial features.
How dark will my brows be after treatment?
Your brows will appear darker and more defined immediately after treatment. This is normal. As they heal, the colour will soften and settle, leaving you with a more natural looking result.
How long do brow PMU results last?
Results vary depending on factors such as skin type, lifestyle, skincare routine, sun exposure and aftercare. The pigment gradually fades over time and a colour refresh may be recommended when the brows become lighter. This is typically 1 year after the initial treatments, but can be before or after.
What if I already have previous brow tattooing?
Previous PMU needs to be assessed before treatment. Please send clear, well lit photographs of your existing brows so their condition and remaining pigment can be assessed. In some cases, previous work may need to fade or be removed before a new PMU procedure can be performed.
Lip Blush
What is lip blush?
Lip blush is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo treatment designed to enhance the natural colour, shape and definition of your lips. It can create a soft wash of colour while giving the lips a more defined and polished appearance. It is a very versatile PMU treatment in that it gives a beautiful tint to the lips but also allows you to be more flexible and still wear other lipsticks and makeup looks where you choose to do so.
Will lip blush make my lips look bigger?
Lip blush does not physically add volume to the lips. It can, however, enhance the natural lip border and create the appearance of better definition. The treatment is designed to enhance your existing lip shape rather than dramatically change it.
Can I choose the colour?
Yes. Your desired colour will be discussed during your consultation. The final healed colour depends on your natural lip tone, skin and how your lips retain pigment, so the colour is selected with your natural colouring and desired result in mind.
Will my lips be very bright after the treatment?
Your lips can appear significantly brighter with a lot more vibrancy immediately after treatment. This is temporary. As your lips heal, the colour will soften considerably and the final healed result will be more subtle.
How long does lip blush take to heal?
The surface of the lips generally heals within around 7–10 days, although the colour can continue to develop and settle for several weeks. You will receive detailed aftercare instructions following your appointment.
Will my lips swell?
Some swelling, redness or sensitivity can occur following lip blush. This is a normal response to the treatment and usually settles within 48 hours. Your aftercare instructions will explain how to look after your lips during the healing process.
Can lip blush cover dark or uneven lips?
Yes! Lip blush can sometimes be used to improve the appearance of uneven or cool/dark areas, but suitability varies from person to person. If you have significant lip pigmentation, a form of lip blush treatment called lip neutralisation may be recommended to help reduce patchiness and provide a more even tone to the lips. What type of lip blush needed can be assessed during the consultation.
Can I have lip blush if I have had lip filler?
Having lip filler does not necessarily prevent you from having lip blush. However, your previous treatment history should be discussed during your consultation so that the timing and suitability of PMU can be considered. Typically, we need to allow for the lip filler to settle first before starting a lip blush procedure.
Can I have lip blush if I get cold sores?
If you have a history of cold sores, please disclose this before booking. Lip tattooing can trigger an outbreak in people who are prone to cold sores, therefore it is strongly recommended to start anti viral medications prior to your lip blush appointments.
Eyeliner & Lash Enhancement
What is PMU eyeliner?
PMU eyeliner is a cosmetic tattoo treatment that creates long-lasting definition along the lash line. It can range from a very subtle enhancement of the lash line to a more noticeable eyeliner effect, depending on the treatment chosen.
Will PMU eyeliner look like traditional makeup?
It can be tailored to your preferred style. A lash-line enhancement can create a subtle, fuller-looking lash line, while a more defined eyeliner treatment can create a stronger makeup effect.
Your desired finish will be discussed before treatment.
Will my eyeliner be very dark after treatment?
The colour will generally appear stronger immediately after treatment and will soften as the skin heals. The final result will be more settled once the healing process is complete.
How long does PMU eyeliner take to heal?
The eyeliner area can appear swollen, tender or more intense immediately after treatment. The surface generally heals over approximately 7–14 days, although the pigment continues to settle afterwards.
Can I wear mascara after PMU eyeliner?
It is recommended to avoid mascara and eye makeup around the treated area while it is healing. You will be given specific aftercare instructions and advised when it is safe to return to your usual eye makeup routine.
Can I have eyeliner if I wear contact lenses?
Contact lens need to be removed prior to your appointment and during the initial healing period. You will receive specific instructions based on your treatment.
Can everyone have PMU eyeliner?
Not everyone is suitable for PMU eyeliner. Certain eye conditions, medications, allergies, sensitivities and other circumstances may affect suitability. Your relevant medical and treatment history should be discussed before your appointment.
The Treatment Process
Does PMU hurt?
At Krish Cosmetics Studio, I make a conscious effort to make treatments as comfortable as possible for my clients. My own methods to numb the treated area have been tried and tested by myself when I have received PMU services. The majority of my clients find the treatments very tolerable. I do my best to take every measure to ensure a comfortable treatment.
Do I need a consultation?
A consultation is an important part of the PMU process and, in my opinion, an essential part of providing you with the level of service you deserve.
It gives us the opportunity to meet in person, discuss your desired results, answer any questions you may have, and for me to properly assess your skin, natural features and suitability for the treatment.
I strongly believe in maintaining high professional standards and providing a truly personalised client experience. Meeting you face-to-face allows me to understand exactly what you are looking for, manage your expectations and ensure that we are both comfortable with the treatment plan before proceeding.
Your consultation is about more than simply assessing suitability — it is the beginning of your experience at Krish Cosmetics Studio. I want you to feel heard, informed and confident in your decision before your treatment begins.
Do I need a patch test?
All PMU, tinting and lash lifting services require a patch test before treatments. PMU patch tests are typically performed during a consultation appointment. If a patch test is required, you will be informed before your appointment. Please disclose any known allergies or sensitivities when booking.
Do I need a top-up for PMU?
A follow up or perfection appointment is essential once your initial treatment has healed. This allows me to assess how your skin has retained the pigment and make any appropriate adjustments and perfect the final look so you have longer lasting treatment outcomes.
How long will my PMU last?
There is no exact timeframe that applies to everyone. PMU fades gradually and longevity depends on factors including skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, skincare products, metabolism and aftercare. For guidance, many PMU services last at least 1 year or more however this is not guaranteed.
What should I do before my appointment?
You will receive treatment specific preparation instructions before your appointment. Please arrive with the treatment area clean and avoid anything that I may specifically advise.
What happens after my treatment?
You will receive detailed aftercare instructions tailored to your treatment. Following these instructions carefully is important for achieving the best possible healed result. You will return in 6-10 weeks for your touch up appointment to define and boost the treatment outcome.
What if I'm nervous about the treatment?
That’s completely understandable. Having a PMU treatment is a personal decision, and I want you to feel comfortable, informed and confident every step of the way.
Before we begin, we will discuss your desired look, your expectations and any concerns you may have. I will explain the treatment process clearly and answer any questions you have, so you know exactly what to expect.
During your appointment, I will talk you through each stage of the process. Nothing is done without your approval first. Your shape, colour and overall design are discussed and carefully considered together, and we will regularly check the mirror before any tattooing begins.
I believe PMU is a collaborative experience. We can make adjustments along the way and take the time needed to ensure you are completely happy with the design before I begin the treatment.
My priority is that you feel listened to, reassured and confident in your decision, never rushed or pressured.
What happens if I forget the aftercare?
Don’t worry, you’re not expected to remember everything after your appointment.
I provide every client with written aftercare to take home, so you have all the information you need to refer back to throughout the healing process.
If you’re ever unsure about something, have a question, or simply need a little reassurance, you are always welcome to send me a message. I’m here to support you throughout your healing journey and want you to feel confident in caring for your treatment properly.
Your experience doesn’t end when you leave the studio, I’m here to support you every step of the way!
Lash Lift & Tinting
What is a lash lift and tint?
A lash lift and tint is a treatment that enhances your natural lashes by lifting and curling them from the base, while tinting them to create a darker, more defined appearance. It gives your lashes a fuller, longer-looking effect without the need for eyelash extensions or daily mascara.
How long does a lash lift and tint take?
- The treatment typically takes around 45–60 minutes, depending on your natural lashes and the products used.
How long does a lash lift and tint last?
- Results generally last around 6–8 weeks, depending on your natural lash growth cycle, aftercare, and lifestyle.
Will a lash lift and tint damage my natural lashes?
When performed correctly by a trained professional using appropriate products and timings, a lash lift and tint should not damage your natural lashes. Following the recommended aftercare is important to help keep your lashes healthy.
Is a lash lift and tint suitable for everyone?
A lash lift and tint is suitable for many people who want to enhance their natural lashes. However, it may not be suitable if you have certain eye conditions, irritated skin around the eyes, or an allergy to lash treatment products. A consultation and patch test may be required before your appointment
Do I need a patch test before my appointment?
Yes, a patch test may be required in line with our salon policy, product manufacturer's instructions, and insurance requirements. Please let us know if you have any allergies or previous reactions to lash or tinting products before booking.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Please arrive with clean lashes, free from mascara, eye makeup, and oily residue. Avoid wearing contact lenses during the treatment, and let your technician know about any eye sensitivities or previous reactions.
Can I wear mascara after a lash lift and tint?
Yes! Once your lashes have settled and you have followed the recommended aftercare period, you can wear mascara if desired. Many clients find they need less mascara because their natural lashes already look darker and more lifted.
Can I get my lashes wet after a lash lift and tint?
It is advisable to keep your lashes dry and avoid steam, swimming, excessive heat, and heavy sweating for the first 24 hours after treatment.
Can I use an eyelash curler after my treatment?
An eyelash curler is usually unnecessary after a lash lift. Avoid using one, as it may place unnecessary stress on your lifted lashes.
Can I wear contact lenses during the treatment?
For your comfort and safety, you should remove contact lenses before the treatment. You can usually put them back in afterwards if your eyes feel comfortable and there is no irritation.
How often can I have a lash lift and tint?
Most clients wait at least 6–8 weeks between treatments, depending on their natural lash cycle and the condition of their lashes. Your technician can advise when it is safe to have your next treatment.
Will a lash lift and tint make my lashes look longer?
A lash lift can make your natural lashes appear longer by lifting them upwards and making more of their length visible. The tint adds depth and definition, helping your lashes look darker and more noticeable.
Can I have a lash lift and tint if I have short lashes?
Yes, many clients with shorter lashes can benefit from a lash lift. The final result depends on your natural lash length, growth pattern, and condition. Your technician can assess your lashes and advise whether the treatment is suitable.
What aftercare should I follow?
To maintain your results:
- Keep your lashes dry for the recommended period, usually 24 hours.
- Avoid rubbing or pulling your lashes.
- Avoid excessive heat and steam during the initial setting period.
- Use gentle, oil-free eye makeup removers where appropriate.
- Brush your lashes gently with a clean spoolie.
- Avoid using an eyelash curler.
What happens if I experience irritation after my treatment?
Mild sensitivity can occur, but persistent redness, swelling, pain, or irritation should not be ignored. If you experience symptoms, rinse away any product that may remain on the skin and seek appropriate medical advice. If you have severe pain or changes in vision, seek urgent medical attention.
How do I maintain my lash lift results?
Avoid rubbing your eyes, handle your lashes gently, and follow the recommended aftercare. Keeping your natural lashes in good condition and allowing them to grow through their normal cycle will help you enjoy your results for as long as possible.
What if my lashes are already tinted or lifted?
Please let us know before your appointment if you have had a recent lash lift, tint, or other lash treatment. Your technician can assess the condition of your lashes and advise whether another treatment is appropriate.
How do I book a lash lift and tint appointment?
Booking is easy! Simply visit our online booking page or contact us directly to arrange your appointment. If you have any questions before booking, we will be happy to help you choose the right treatment for your lashes.
What are the benefits of having my lashes tinted?
Lash tinting is a great way to enhance your natural lashes by adding depth, colour, and definition. It is especially beneficial if you have naturally light, blonde, or fair lashes, as the tint makes them more visible from root to tip.
Benefits of lash tinting include:
- Darker, more defined lashes: Enhances the appearance of your natural lashes.
- A mascara-free look: Enjoy beautifully defined lashes without applying mascara every day.
- The appearance of fuller lashes: Darker lashes can create the illusion of greater fullness.
- Low-maintenance beauty: Perfect for busy lifestyles, holidays, or anyone who prefers a simpler beauty routine.
- Enhanced natural beauty: Complements a lash lift by making your lifted lashes appear even more noticeable.
Lash tinting is a simple way to achieve a naturally defined, effortless look with minimal daily maintenance. For the best results, combine a lash tint with a lash lift to create beautifully lifted, darker-looking lashes.
